Thrift Shop Assistant

Job Summary
Responsible for various tasks related to the daily operations of the Humane Society’s Thrift Shop through the implementation of established policies and procedures under the supervision of the Thrift Shop Manager. 

·         Responsibilities include; assisting with the day-to-day business of the thrift shop, scheduling and supervision of thrift shop volunteer staff and assigned personnel. 
·         Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits. Handling customer check out area. Pricing and merchandising of store product
·         Daily weekly and monthly financial reporting; accomplishing the maintenance and upkeep of physical plant; cultivation of donors; insurance of compliance with local, state and federal regulations; loss prevention strategies.  Ensure all areas of operation are covered either by assigning or performing routine tasks.  Promote the mission and policies of the Humane Society.  Perform unrelated tasks as requested by supervisor.  .

Immediate Supervisor
Performs work under the direct supervision of the Thrift Manager and at the request of the Executive Director or Business Manager

Qualifications
Must be able to work well with customers.  Retail client service experience needed.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule.  Basic computer experience required.  Must have valid Florida Drivers License.

Assistant Bookkeeper (Vero Beach, FL )


The Humane Society of Vero Beach is in need of a Full Time Assistant Bookkeeper.

Responsibilities will include the following:
Accounts Receivable
• Issue invoices to governmental agencies
• Ensure that receivables are collected promptly
• Prepare bank deposits and enter daily deposits (cash, checks, & credit cards) to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
• Record cash receipts and make bank deposits
• Ensure deposits in the bank are reconciled with the books
• Produce discrepancy reports for the Controller to inform on accuracy of cash handling and drawer-counting
• Maintain a petty cash fund
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
• Back up person to process payroll
• Provide clerical and administrative support
• Purchase supplies and equipment as authorized by management
• Monitor office supply levels and reorder as necessary
• Tag and monitor fixed assets
• All duties as assigned

Requirements:
• Applicant should have a minimum of 2 years bookkeeping experience and an understanding of general accounting practices
• Software experience: Microsoft Office and Accounting Software
• High level of energy and willingness to learn
• Must be able to work independently, be detail orientated and have great organization skills
• Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work in a fast paced medium size office environment providing administrative support as needed
